CLEARFIELD – “We are One Family: Friends Make the World a Nicer Place” was the theme for the 2013 Art and Poster Calendar Contest held by the Pennsylvania Affordable Housing Management Association (PAHMA), sponsored by the National Affordable Housing Management Association (NAHMA). This was the 27th year that NAHMA held a drug-free themed art and poster contest.
Betty Rodkey, right, is shown displaying a poster she designed for the contest. Rodkey resides at Leonard Court Apartments, a complex that is under the management of Central Pennsylvania Community Action (CPCA). All contestants submitting artwork must reside in a community that is a current member of PAHMA. The contest was open to children, adults 55 and older and disabled or special needs residents of affordable housing communities.

PAHMA and other affordable housing management associations across the country could each submit three entries for the national contest. From these entries, winners were chosen to appear in the 2014 NAHMA calendar.
Rodkey’s entry was one of the winning selections for the western Pennsylvania area and was then submitted to NAHMA for the national competition, where her poster was chosen as one of the national winners. Her artwork will be featured in NAHMA’S 2014 Drug-Free Calendar.
