ALTOONA – An exhibition of works by Jude Harzer and Margi Weir will be on display in the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts Sept. 5 – Oct. 13. A reception will be held from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m., Sept. 5, in the Titelman Study of the Misciagna Center.
Harzer received her Bachelor’s degree in 1987 from Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, MA. She is currently completing her MFA in painting at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, GA. Harzer has participated in both solo and group exhibitions in venues that include the Pen and Brush Gallery, the Salmagundi Art Center, the ACA Gallery, and the Prince Street Gallery in New York City, as well as the George Segal Gallery in New Jersey. Her paintings belong to both national and international private collections.
Weir earned her MFA in painting from the University of California at Los Angeles, her MA in painting from New Mexico State University, her BFA in painting from San Francisco Art Institute, and her BA in art history from Wheaton College in Massachusetts. In 2009 she joined the Wayne State University Faculty as an assistant professor of painting and drawing. Awards for her work include first prize in the 2012 Juried Exhibition at the Las Vegas Center for Contemporary Art, the prize for Best Work on Paper in the first Southwest Biennial at the Albuquerque Museum in 2006 and Best of Show in New Directions in Fiber at CORE New Art Space, Denver, Colo., in 2004.
