Peter A. “Pete” Yonushonis, 67, of Reynoldsville died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013 at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center – Shadyside surrounded by his loving wife and children after a lengthy illness.
Born Feb. 24, 1946 in DuBois, he was the son of the late Peter N. “Poco” and Harriett (Zeigler) Youushonis.
On Sept. 16, 1972, he married Sharon L. (Deible) Yonushonis.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in the Vietnam War.
He was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, the former Lithuania Independence Club and the Reynoldsville Elks.
He loved attending the races at the Hummingbird Speedway. He also enjoyed picking up vehicles at auctions for local car dealers.
He’s survived by two children, Susan L. Koza and her husband, Paul Jr. of Oliveburg and Shane A. Yonushonis and his wife, Jodie of Ocean City, MD; a brother, Charles Youshonis of Bradford,; and two grandchildren, Jack H. and Zachary R. Yonushonis.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Yonushonis.
Friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
A ritual service will be conducted at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Dan Kresinski as celebrant.
Burial will follow in Reynoldsville Cemetery, where full military honors will be accorded.
