State Police Investigate Aggravated Assault at SCI Houtzdale

HOUTZDALE – The investigation is ongoing into an incident of aggravated assault that occurred at 1:02 p.m. Friday at the State Correctional Institution at Houtzdale in Woodward Township, according to the Clearfield-based state police.

During the incident, two inmates returned to their cell after completing work assignments. One inmate allegedly began assaulting his cell mate by punching and kicking him in his head and shoulder area, state police said.

The victim sustained severe head injuries and was flown to the Altoona Hospital for medical treatment, state police said.
