Repair Work Begins Aug. 12 for Small Bridge near Romola

CENTRE COUNTY On behalf of Gov. Tom Corbett, PennDOT has announced that work to repair a bridge on Route 1002 (Marsh Creek Road) in Liberty Township will get under way Aug. 12.

The 22-foot bridge is located two miles northeast of the village Romola, spanning Big Run. It was built in 1937 and carries an average of 300 vehicles per day.

Work is scheduled to last until late August and a detour will be in effect while repairs take place. PennDOT’s official detour will direct motorists to use Route 1002 (Marsh Creek Road), 1001 (Howard Divide Road), and 150 (Bald Eagle Valley Road). Local drivers may choose to use alternate routes.

PennDOT Centre County Maintenance will perform this work, which is weather and schedule dependent. Drivers are reminded to follow detour signs, use caution through all construction zones, obey posted speed limits and always buckle up.
