Claude William Swanson, 68 of Woodland went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at the DuBois Regional Medical Center. On Dec. 17, 1966, he and Ginger were married at Trinity United Methodist Church in Clearfield.
Born Jan. 10, 1945 in Clearfield, he was the son of the late Frederick and Dolores (Woolever) Swanson.
Mr. Swanson was a member of the Lake Street United Methodist Church, Woodland. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in
Germany.
He was employed by the Moshannon Valley School District until his retirement June 30, 2011. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and farm tractors as both a collector and admirer.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters and a son, Michele Bell and her husband, Ken of West Decatur; William Swanson of Woodland; and Susan Moore and her husband Dave of Clearfield; four grandchildren, Matthew Bell, Justin Bell, Derek Moore and Kayla Moore; two brothers and two sisters, James Swanson and his wife, Patty of Woodland; Leda Wisor of Bigler; and Ronald Swanson and Sharon Hoffman both of LeMoyne.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Frederick Swanson and Leonard
Swanson.
A Celebration of Life for Claude William Swanson will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Lake Street United Methodist Church, Lake Street, Woodland, PA 16881, with Pastor Sean Smith officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of services Sunday at the church. Burial will be in Bradford Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Military honors will be provided by the Clearfield Honor
Guard following the celebration of life at the church.
