County Awards Bid for River Street Bridge Project

CLEARFIELD – At Tuesday’s regular meeting, the Clearfield County Commissioners awarded the bid for the River Street Bridge Project in Curwensville Borough.

The county received three bids with the lowest one from Francis J. Palo Inc. for $516,349. The county’s engineer recommended the commissioners accept the bid, which they did with a 3-0 vote.

Commissioner Mark B. McCracken said they waited to award the bids and begin construction until after the Curwensville Days celebration. He also said they will continue to work with local businesses and the school district, so that there’s very minimal disruption.

In addition, Commissioner Joan Robinson-McMillen said the bridge project will take six to eight weeks to complete. She said they expect to finish the construction around Oct. 15; afterward, she said the bridge will be wider and its sidewalks safer.
