CCAAA, Clearfield County Link to Offer Transportation to PA’s Alzheimer’s Disease Meeting

CLEARFIELD – The public is invited to join the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging Inc. on Aug. 8, as it travels to State College to participate in an Alzheimer’s Disease Planning Committee. The regional meeting provides an opportunity for the public to offer comments in the planning process.  Information is sought on the needs of persons who are living with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers, resources available and suggestions for strategies to be considered by the Pennsylvania Alzheimer’s Disease Planning Committee.

This meeting, as well as others across the state, is in response to Gov. Tom Corbett’s executive order, creating a committee to develop a plan to address Alzheimer’s disease and related brain disorders in Pennsylvania. The key areas for discussion are: What are the needs of Pennsylvanians with Alzheimer’s disease? What resources are needed to support Pennsylvanians with Alzheimer’s disease, as well as their families and caregivers?  And, ideas for the state to better respond to the growing number of Pennsylvanians with Alzheimer’s disease.

The agency, in partnership with the Clearfield County Link to Aging and Disability Resources, is sponsoring a free bus trip to State College, so that area residents can participate. They encourage anyone affected by Alzheimer’s to travel with them. They will meet at the Clearfield Wal-Mart Plaza, and anyone attending should park in rows one and two by the guiderails. The bus will leave Wal-Mart at 7:30 a.m.

The Alzheimer’s Disease Planning meeting will be held on the Pennsylvania State University’s Center for Healthy Aging, Ruth Pike Auditorium, 022 Biobehaviorial Health Building, University Park from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  A boxed lunch will be provided after they board the bus to return to Clearfield. They plan to arrive back in Clearfield by 3 p.m. Although there is no cost to ride the bus, reservations are required.

If you are interested in reserving a seat, please RSVP to CCAAA at 814-765-2696 or 800-225-8571 by July 29. You do not have to ride the bus to participate.

For those planning to attend, you can reserve time to comment by calling 800-753-8827 or by emailing alzstateplan@pa.gov.
