Three Weeks Later . . . ARC Continues to Assist Families Affected by Recent Flooding

Organization Encourages Residents to Donate to Red Cross Disaster Relief

DUBOIS – Late last month, heavy rain caused major flooding in Clearfield and Jefferson counties. Immediately, the American Red Cross in Western Pennsylvania was on-the-ground, providing assistance to affected residents. More than three weeks later, the organization is still working with affected families to help them on their path to recovery.

Red Cross workers operated a service delivery site at the Reynoldsville Fire Department and then at the Red Cross office in DuBois, for nearly two weeks. Affected residents were able to meet one-on-one with Red Cross volunteers who assessed and helped provide for their disaster-caused needs. Since the service delivery site closed, residents have been able to meet with Red Cross workers at the chapter office during its normal business hours.

“Our volunteers have met with hundreds of affected community members to help them on the path to recovery,” said Jason Bange, executive director of the local Red Cross. “We will continue to be a resource for those affected by the flooding, and we are thankful for our donors and community partners who have assisted us in our efforts.”

Red Cross Response:

Opened more than 250 cases, providing services to more than 650 people

Mobilized three emergency response vehicles and more than 140 Red Cross disaster workers who assisted with damage assessment, casework and mobile distribution.

Provided nearly 200 overnight stays with Red Cross operated and supported shelters
