Obituary Notice: John “Jack” E. Weaver

John “Jack” E. Weaver, 78, of Philipsburg died Monday, July 15, 2013 at his residence. Born Sept. 1, 1934 in Morrisdale, he was the son of James H. and Martha Tatters Weaver.

Mr. Weaver was a life-time member of the Morrisdale United Methodist Church, where he held several offices and was a Sunday school teacher for many years. He retired as a supervisor from Penelec in 1999 from the Philipsburg district.

Later he was affiliated with Front & Centre Productions as a set construction coordinator and where he was loved by all the kids there. He looked forward to working with them and was known as “Pappy Jack.” He was also a Cub Scout leader and loved to hunt.

Mr. Weaver was an avid golfer. He was a sports fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Pittsburgh Steelers and of Penn State. He was a member of the Chinklacamoose Canoe Club, Curwensville, for many years. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife to their home in North Fort Myers, Fla. during the winter months and where they have many close friends.

He married Margaret Anne Hill Weaver on Sept. 16, 1956 at the Morrisdale United Methodist Church. She survives in Philipsburg.

Surviving are one daughter, Ellen R. Monella and her husband, Paul of Morrisdale; two sons, Robert Jeffery Weaver of Chicago, IL and John Matthew Weaver and his wife, Nacie of Clearfield and a sister-in-law, Beverly Ann Weaver of Morrisdale.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Jeremy Duckett and his wife, Angie of Indian Land, SC; Jacquie kester of Woodland, Amanda Miller and her husband, Brandon and Alexander Weaver , both of Culpepper, VA; Amber Weaver of Cranberry and Paul “PJ” Monella and Jamison Robert Hill Monella, both of Morrisdale; five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James W. Weaver and an infant Billy Weaver. He was the last member of his generation.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Morrisdale United Methodist Church, Morrisdale, with the Pastor Tina Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in the Grandview Cemetery, Morrisdale.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday and again from 1 p.m. until the time of services Saturday at the church.

Military honors will be accorded at the graveside by the Philipsburg Independent Honor Guard.
