Dorothy Jean (Shannon) White, 88, of Christ the King Manor, DuBois died Sunday, July 14, 2013 after a lengthy illness.
She was born Nov. 8, 1924 in Munson, the daughter of Albert and Madalyn (Eisenhauer) Shannon. She was a 1942 graduate of the former Morris Township High School.
Upon her graduation, she moved to Baltimore, MD and then to Washington, D.C., where she worked for the federal government until 1952.
She returned to Morrisdale to marry Gerald T. White on April, 26, 1952 and who preceded her in death on April 4, 1990. In addition, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Madelyn Hubler (Gary) of Morrisdale on Dec. 26, 1998 and brothers, Albert and Joseph and an infant brother, Thomas.
She’s survived by five children, John White (Martha) and Gerald White Jr. (Mary) of Morrisdale, Charlie White (Lisa) of Ellicott City, MD; Patrick White of Treasure Lake, and Marianne Sankey of Philipsburg.
Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, Kyle Hubler, Bethany Briskar, Kevin Hubler, Jerry White, Mollie White, Katie Baughman, Adam White, Haley White, Jonathan White, Kristen Bindseil, Danny White and Nathan White; two great-grandchildren, Grant Hubler and Griffin Briskar; and three sisters, Margaret “Peggy” Paul of Philipsburg, Rosemary Sotok of Holland, MI and Roberta Stewart of Vienna, VA.
Mrs. White was a homemaker and a life-long member of the St. Agnes Catholic Church, Morrisdale, and the Rosary Society. She was a woman of great strength who was known for her faith, optimism and loving personality. She cherished her time with her children and grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Strange & Weaver Funeral Home, Morrisdale. A rosary vigil will be held at 7 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Agnes Catholic Church, Morrisdale.
