The Market Street Gallery has started hosting corner concerts on Friday evenings at the Shaw Park.

Steve Albert from the gallery explained the concerts are to build community spirit and fun while also serving as a means to solicit donations toward the “Save the Ritz Theater” project.

This was the second week for the concert series. People came and mingled, and some brought snacks from the theater’s concession and enjoyed a convivial evening of music and leisure.

The musical duo Shepherd & Archibald of DuBois played traditional Scottish, Irish and English folk music.  There was even a visit from a friendly Gorilla that greeted people and shook the collection jar.

Albert said they plan to continue the corner concerts through the season, and in case of inclement weather, Ritz Theater owner Bob Knepp has offered the lobby of the theater as an alternate location.
