Obituary Notice: Charlotte Parsky Levin

Charlotte Parsky Levin, of Boynton Beach FL, died peacefully Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at her home. Born to Harry Parsky and Esther Cohen Parsky on Feb. 22, 1934, she was raised in Philipsburg.

She received her Bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the Pennsylvania State University. She later received a teacher of the handicapped certification from Kean University.

Her teaching career spanned well more than 20 years. She was primarily as a special education teacher for the Bridgewater-Raritan Public Schools.

An avid volunteer, she helped with voter registration drives and flu vaccine sign-ups. She was an officer of Hadassah and volunteered at the Green Cay Wildlife Preserve.

In addition, she was on the Adult Education Committee at Temple Torah and a teacher’s aide in Palm Beach County. Her interests included canasta and mahjongg, as well as participating in book clubs and attending local theaters.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Levin, in 2006. Together, they moved from Somerville to Florida to enjoy retired life.

She leaves behind three children, Leslie Hoffman (David) of Upper Saint Clair, Renee Brandler (Jeffrey) of Denville, NJ and Harold Levin (Rochelle) of Hillsborough, NJ; five grandchildren, Philip and Eric Hoffman, Brian and Nancy Brandler and Andrea Levin, who all enjoyed spending time with their Bubbie; and a brother, Robert Parsky (Ann Roantree) of Philadelpia.

Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, July 14, 2013 at the Bruce VanArsdale Funeral Home, 111 No. Gaston Ave, Somerville. Burial followed at the Temple Sholom Cemetery in Bridgewater.
