Chiefs-Phils Game Suspended

PHILIPSBURG — The Philipsburg Phils were leading the Clearfield Chiefs 2-0 at the Don Womer Baseball Complex Wednesday evening when their important Central Penn American Legion League game was suspended in the fifth inning because of rain.

The game will be resumed and completed prior to the regular-season finale between the two teams at the Lawrence Township Recreation Park Field Thursday evening.

The Chiefs must record at least one more win to hurdle Bellefonte for the eighth and final berth in the CPL Playoffs that will begin Friday.

Both teams are 3-12, but Bellefonte has the tie-breaker advantage by virtue of its 4-3, 4-3 sweep on June 1.

Bellefonte will host Altoona in another CPL make-up Thursday.
