Corbett Unveils JobGateway(SM) , State-of-the-Art Job-Matching Web site

HERSHEY – Gov. Tom Corbett, along with Department of Labor & Industry Secretary Julia Hearthway, yesterday announced the latest release of JobGateway.pa.gov, a Web site created to better connect people looking for work and local employers.

The announcement took place at the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.

“Connecting people who are looking for jobs with real-time job openings strengthens our economy, our workforce and Pennsylvania’s future in the new global economy,” Corbett said.

JobGateway(SM) is free to both job seekers and employers. After a simple registration process is completed, people looking for work have access to a number of features unique to JobGateway(SM):

New search technology includes the ability to share job postings via email, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Google+. JobGateway(SM) Mobile provides access to jobs from a mobile phone.

“This Web site provides a solution for those looking for work. JobGateway will now bring our workers and employers together, quickly and more effectively,” Corbett said. “With tools like these we can build on the momentum of Pennsylvania’s recent job growth.”

“JobGateway dramatically improves job-search capabilities for anyone looking for a job in the state,” Hearthway said. “The site gives job seekers real time jobs postings, and it offers suggestions on jobs that may be of interest to candidates, helping them to simplify their job searches.”

With an average of 200,000 job openings on the site and 3,500 new postings daily, JobGateway(SM) has had more than 300,000 job seekers use the site in the past month. The site has received more than 2.5 million job applications since it became live.

The site went live in July of 2012 for use by unemployment compensation claimants to register for work-search. Since that time, the site was opened to all job-seekers and, most recently, employers, who can post job openings for free.
