Robert Rose, 81, of Curwensville died Thursday, July 4, 2013 at his home.
Born Feb. 6, 1932 in Lawrence Township, he was married to Margaret Angeline Lombardo on Oct. 23, 1954 and who predeceased him in death May 10 of this year.
Mr. Rose was devoted his life to his family, friends and in service. He was a Cub Scout master as a young adult. In addition, he served his country during the Korean War along with the other fine men of the U.S. National Guard Battery A and later the 200th Field Artillery Battalion at Fort Campbell, KY.
He was a life-long machinist previously employed at Chrysler Corp., Dumont-Airplane & Marine, Penn Tran Corp, Mitchell Machines, Superior Pet Company and Elmco Inc. until his retirement.
He’s survived by his sister, Mrs. Medaine Ray of Titusville, FL and his four children, Robert “Bob” A. Rose, Jr. and his wife, Jean of Kermoor, John T. Rose and his wife, Doris, of Westover; David L. Rose of Curwensville; and Mary F. Rose and her companion, Irving Cruz of Somerset.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Vickie Rose-Conners, Bobbie Jean Reitz, Shawn Rose, Mark Rose, Christina Long, Heather Rose-Deal, Noah Rose and Mia Rose.
He was preceded in death by his parents, King Hutton Rose and Cecil and Mary Ann (Hudson) Stiver; his siblings, Ralph A. Rose of Clearfield and Raymond D. Rose of Ridgway and an infant granddaughter, Aubriannah Rose-Conner.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday at the Chester C. Childboy Funeral Home, Curwensville. A private memorial service will be held Saturday and burial will be at the family’s discretion.
The family suggests memorial contributions be mailed to the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, 300 State St., Curwensville, PA 16833 and to be made payable to the “Curwensville Boy Scout Troup No. 13.
