ARC to Offer Lifesaving Training

DUBOIS – Residents often partake in water activities as an escape from the long, hot days of summer. Unfortunately, this can sometimes lead to drowning or getting caught in a strong current or rip tide. Lifeguard/CPR training can be the difference between life and death.

The American Red Cross is offering safety and preparedness classes teaching lifeguarding, first aid and CPR/AED training to prepare you to react in any emergency situation, including those resulting from summer activities.

This summer, the Red Cross will offer safety training courses to prepare residents for emergency situations. These situations could arise from excessive heat or a day in the water gone wrong. Interested Dubois residents can enroll this summer by visiting RedCross.org.

“These preparedness classes can be the difference between life and death,” said Jason Bange, executive director of the local Red Cross. “It never hurts to be prepared; you never know when an emergency will arise.”

The following classes will be offered in Dubois this month. The courses will be held at the Red Cross office, located at 109 N Brady St. in Dubois.

In addition to area residents, businesses, organizations and community groups can register for private instruction from the Red Cross. To register for a nearby individual class, online babysitting class, or private group instruction, call 1-800-RED-CROSS or visit RedCross.org.
