Rose Marie Capatch, 92, of Madera died Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Christ the King Manor, DuBois.
She was born in Madera on Jan. 24, 1921, the youngest of eight children to James F. and Anna Marie (Cornetto) Capatch. She was a lifelong resident of Madera.
She was a 1938 graduate of Madera High School and a graduate of Lock Haven Teachers College.
She began her career as a teacher at Ramey Elementary School. She spent the majority of her career, as a kindergarten teacher for the Philipsburg School District.
She was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Madera, a member of the church Rosary and Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, St. Victoria’s Court #646. She had served previously through the years as a lector for morning Mass in Madera, Ramey and Houtzdale Catholic churches.
She’s survived by a daughter, Irene Goodsir and her husband, Steve; two grandchildren, Michelle and Steven Goodsir; a brother, P. William “Bill” Capatch of Madera; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, George, Victor and Anthony Capatch; and three sisters, Angeline “Bobby” Gimmel, Theresa Romano and Jennie Dean.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Philipsburg, with Fr. Robert J. Kelly as celebrant.
Burial will be at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Madera. At her request, there will be no public visitation.
