Obituary Notice: Clair Eugene Miller

Clair Eugene Miller, 76, of Smoot, WY and Treasure Lake, died Monday, July 1, 2013 at the Star Valley Medical Center in Afton, WY.

Born April 28, 1937 in Norvelt, he was the son of the late William F. and Edna (Hughes) Miller.

On Aug. 21, 1965, he married Susan M. (Greene) Miller. She preceded him in death July 29, 2010.

He retired in 1992 after working more than 29 years for the United Parcel Service.

He was a member of the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Luthersburg, the Treasure Lake Sportsmen’s Club, Bennett Branch Watershed Association and the National Rifle Association.  Above all, he loved being retired and spending time with his family and friends, especially at Seldom Inn Camp, the hunting camp he shared with his brothers and cousins.  He also enjoyed fishing, travel, reading the newspaper, tending his fruit trees and spending time in Star Valley, WY, his second home.

He’s survived by his children, Melissa Johnston (Lance) of Cranberry Township, Kathleen Shugars (Nick) of DuBois and Matthew (Fiona) Miller of Bristol, VA; twin grandsons, Jacob and Jarrett Johnston; his brothers, Bill (Myrna) Miller, Art Miller and Logan (Vicki) Miller; a sister-in-law, Dorla Miller and many nieces and nephews and extended family. He was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather and friend to all.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Miller.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home in DuBois and from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Sunday at the Jay Hoffer Funeral Home at 2245 Mt. Pleasant Rd., Norvelt.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 108 Dutch Hill Rd., Latrobe, PA, with Pastor Mark A. Werner officiating.

Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant Township in Latrobe.
