Gilbert L. Hale, 79, of Philipsburg died Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at the DuBois Regional Medical Center in DuBois.
He was the son of the late Leroy S. and Lola Mae (Gill) Hale born Dec. 29, 1933 in Winburne.
He married the former Nelda D. Parkes on May 21, 1959 in Winchester, VA. She survives him at home.
He attended the Grace United Methodist Church in Philipsburg. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958 and was a member of the Centre Hill Grange.
He had been a truck driver for Davis Trucking in Munson and Hawbaker Trucking in State College for several years. He and his wife then moved to New York, where he was employed with General Electric in Syracuse for 14 years.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hale was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Hale.
Along with his wife, he is survived by a sister, Joan Marie Morris of Kylertown. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Bonnie Hale of Winburne and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Grace United Methodist Church, Philipsburg, with the Pastor Mark Thumma officiating. Full military honors will be accorded by the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Beezer-Heath Funeral home in Philipsburg.
