WJAC-TV: Jefferson Co. under Disaster Declaration due to Flooding

JEFFERSON COUNTY – The Jefferson County Commissioners have declared a disaster emergency due to flooding-related issues.

As of 2:20 p.m. Thursday, there were efforts under way to evacuate Big Run Borough. The Jefferson County Department of Emergency Services has asked all residents to avoid the Big Run area.

The department has also asked all residents to avoid areas of Reynoldsville and Sykesville boroughs due to the number of road closures and high water. Click here for a complete list of Jefferson County roadways that are closed or restricted due to the flooding.
The department has asked that anyone who experiences an emergency due to the flooding not to call the 911 center. Instead, they are asked to call the Department Of Emergency Services at 814-849-5052.
