CBICC Announces Recipients of 2013 Workforce Development Scholarships

STATE COLLEGE – The Chamber of Business and Industry of Centre County has announced the recipients of this year’s Workforce Development Scholarships.

The monies are raised during the CBICC’s annual “Open for Business” golf tournament.  The tournament will be held this year at Toftrees Golf Resort & Conference Center on July 26.   Since inception, the Workforce Development Scholarship Program has awarded more than $50,000 to local students.

Scholarships in the amount of $1,250 are given to one high school student in each of the five Centre County School Districts who is enrolled in a program of technical education or training and plans to pursue a career in a technical field in Centre County upon completion of their education.

“We have had the good fortune of having this program grow over the years and are pleased to see the business community support such an important endeavor,” said Jean Gerber, vice president of chamber operations.  “The recipients have consistently been excellent students who have demonstrated real talent and this is a way for us to support technical education and workforce development initiatives in Centre County.”

This year’s Workforce Development scholarship Recipients are as follows: Bald Eagle Area School District, William Bennett; Bellefonte Area School District , Luke Purnell; Penns Valley Area School District, Andrew Myers; Philipsburg-Osceola Area School District, Dustin J. Moskel; and State College Area School District, Tyler J. Coleman.
