Edith V. “Betty” Ditty, 99, of Pottersdale died Monday, June 24, 2013 at the Windy Hill Village of Presbyterian Homes, Philipsburg.
Born Jan. 7, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Caroline Stroup Ditty. Ms. Ditty taught at New Garden, Pottersdale, Oak Hill, Karthaus and West Branch. She retired in 1979 after 35 years of service. She had received her Master’s degree from the Penn State University.
She’s survived by three sisters, Irma Clark of Pottersdale, Carolyn Mersch of Urbandale, IA and Letha Plube of Morrisdale and one brother, Theodore “Ted” Ditty and his wife, Edna of Calhoun, MO.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Bernice Jolloff, Grace Bosquet and Doris Lucas and five brothers, Clayton, Harold, Leslie, Norman and Herbert Ditty.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel of the Strange & Weaver Funeral Service, Morrisdale. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Memorial Cemetery, Karthaus.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
