Obituary Notice: Mary Geraldine Peno

Mary Geraldine “Geri” Peno, 88, of Curwensville died Saturday, June 15, 2013 at her residence. Born Nov. 9, 1924 in Dean, Cambria County, she was the daughter of Gerald Francis and Edith Helen (Plunket) Jacobs.

She was a homemaker. She also cooked at the former Tastee-Freez in Curwensville, worked at the Curwensville Lake and retired from the Joseph & Elizabeth Shaw Public Library in Clearfield. She, along with her husband, co-owned the first cable company in Curwensville.

She was a member of the St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville, where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.  She loved taking care of her family, cooking and cleaning.

She wed James Henry Peno on Feb. 7, 1948 in Frugality, and who preceded her in death March 26, 1982.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Fred Jacobs and two infant siblings.

Surviving are five children, Michael Peno and his wife, Linda of Clearwater, FL, Jacquelyn Peno of New Orleans, LA, Linda Bell of Pleasant Gap, Beth Pearce and her husband, Bob of Kylertown and Jill Vega of Palm Springs, CA.

Also surviving are six grandchildren, Michael, Jason, Misty, Erin, Meghan and Robbie; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Ann Jacobs of Dean; four sisters and two brothers, Louise Conrad, Patricia Conzo and her husband, Dick and George Jacobs and his wife, Doris, all of Altoona, Lorraine Gregg and James Jacobs and his wife Miriam, both of Dean and Donna Mae Reed of New Jersey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at the St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville, with the Rev. Father Mark J. Mastrian as celebrant. Burial will be in the Fruit Hill Cemetery, New Millport.

At the request of Mrs. Peno, there will be no public visitation.
