Barbara Sue Rusnak, 66, of Ramey died peacefully Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at Conemaugh Memorial Center, Johnstown.
Born Oct. 19, 1946, in Philipsburg, she was the daughter of the late Steve P. and Helen L. (Shedlock) Rusnak.
She was a 1964 graduate of the Moshannon Valley High School. In 1968, she graduated from St. Francis University with a Bachelor’s degree in education.
She was employed as an elementary and middle school teacher at Johnstown Middle School for many years.
She was a parishioner of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ramey, where she severed as a church secretary, a lector and Eucharist minister.
She was a past president of the Greater Johnstown Education Association, president of Retired Pennsylvania State Education Association of Western PA. She also was a Ramey Borough council member and an avid New York Yankees fan.
She’s survived by an aunt and godmother, Margaret Bednarchik of Moon Township; her godfather, Joseph Shedlock and his wife, Shirley of Ramey; her cousins, Tom and Carol Giovaccini of Ebensburg and numerous cousins. She’s also survived by special long-time friends, Thomas and Bonnie Trigona and their grandson, Zachary Long of Johnstown.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an uncle, Walter Shedlock; and numerous other aunts and uncles.
Friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Monday at Kruise Funeral Home Inc., Ramey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ramey, with Father Zab Amar as celebrant. Burial will follow at the Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery, Ramey.
