DUBOIS – The DuBois Business College (DBC) recently presented certificates of completion to students from two basics/beginners computer workshops. The workshop students are residents of the tri-county and outlying areas.
The computer skills program was developed and implemented in the fall of 2012 to educate those people of all ages wanting to learn computer skills. The basics/beginners computer workshop teaches use of e-mail techniques – mainly composing, sending, receiving and organizing emails.
Guest speakers provide tips to the students targeting computer safety online and safety and security in everyday routines, searching the Web safety tips and e-mail safety tips.
Microsoft Word©, a Microsoft Office program, is introduced and students learn uses for the program in everyday life, how to manipulate text, and insert clip-art.
To date, more than 100 students have participated in the basics/beginners and Microsoft Word workshops to become well versed on computer usage.
These workshops enable the students to use computers to “stay in touch and communicate” with family and friends all over the world.
Workshop Instructor, Debbie Rhed said, “We get weekly inquiries from individuals wanting and needing instruction on computer programs, as well as from businesses wanting instruction for their employees on Microsoft Office programs such as, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Window 8 and PowerPoint.
“There is a demand for these services, so we are doing our best to deliver a variety of workshops to accommodate the public at DBC.”
