STATE COLLEGE – Rehabilitation work is scheduled to wrap up this week on a bridge on Route 3006 (Valley View Road) in Centre County. The bridge spans Buffalo Run near the village of Coleville in Spring Township.
The bridge is set to open Wednesday, and the detour in place since April will be lifted. The opening comes two and a half months ahead of schedule, and drivers will enjoy safer, more efficient travel across a modern structure. The completion of the project allows PennDOT to remove the bridge from the list of structurally deficient bridges in Centre County as well as the current four-ton weight limit.
Work included replacement of the bridge superstructure, repair of abutments, roadway paving, guide rail updates and miscellaneous items. The Coleville Bridge was built in 1939, is 50 feet long and carries an average of 960 vehicles each day. Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc. of State College is the contractor for this $710,000 job.
