Robin Elizabeth Srock, 49, 237 W. Main St., Mahaffey, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person and was sentenced to 18 months to eight years in state prison. She was ordered to complete anger management counseling. She was fined $2 plus costs and she must pay restitution of over $2,500.
The charges stem from an incident in Mahaffey Borough on Dec. 31 when Srock allegedly stabbed a man she was dating after they got into a verbal altercation.
Prior to sentencing, the victim’s sister addressed the court explaining that Srock has had a negative impact on their lives. She stated that in July of last year she lost her father and then was “half an inch from losing my brother.” She asked Clearfield County President Judge Fredric J. Ammerman to give Srock the maximum sentence.
Another friend spoke on her behalf saying he thought she needed “treatment rather than punishment.” He said she was not a threat to society and this incident was “60 seconds of insanity.” He asked she be allowed to stay close to home.
Ammerman explained that because of the length of the sentence it was not possible for her to get a county sentence and once she is sentenced to state prison, it is out of his hands as to which state institution she would serve her sentence in.
Srock addressed the court saying she was sorry to the victim, his family and her own family. She admitted she made a bad choice when she used drugs.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, the victim said Srock followed him into the kitchen where she grabbed a knife and went after him. She stabbed him twice in the left upper chest area. He was then transported to the Altoona Trauma Center for treatment. Four witnesses told police they saw the argument and Srock stabbing the victim.
Srock told police that she was drinking only iced tea when someone spiked her drink causing her to “start feeling funny” and to drink two glasses of wine. She also claimed someone spiked her wine.
She said she was grabbed by the throat and her head was bounced off the floor. She stated, “People just jumped on me.” It was then she got up, grabbed the knife and stabbed the victim, she said.
