Ronald G. Michaels, 87, of Frenchville went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.
Born Oct 18, 1925 in Grassflat, he was the son of the late William B. and Nellie E. Askey Michaels. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War and a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corp in which he served for 16 years. He was employed by Piper Aircraft and the coal industry.
He was married to Margaret J. McFaye Michaels on April 4, 1953 in Keewaydin. She survives in Frenchville.
Surviving are a daughter, Miriam Ennis of Frenchville and her husband, Jeffrey of Philipsburg and two sons, Rodger Michaels and his wife, Debbie of Morrisdale and Mark Michaels and his wife, Katherine Soster-Michaels of Downingtown.
Also surviving are a brother, Dale Michaels of Greer, SC; five grandchildren, Jonathan Michaels and his wife, Jessica and Timothy Ennis and his wife, Nicole, all of West Decatur, Jennifer Sproull and her husband, Todd of Clearfield and Cody Michaels and Kasey Michaels, both of Downingtown; and seven great-grandchildren, Connor Michaels, Alexis and Lysa Hynd, Zachery and Camryn Sproull, Lexis Ennis and Riley Philips.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gregory; a grandson, Bryan Gregory Ennis; three sisters, Kathleen, Pauline and Betty; three brothers, William, Ken and Clealand and two infants.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Summit Hill United Methodist Church, Morrisdale, with the Rev. Heather Baker-McAllister officiating. Burial will be in the Keewaydin Cemetery, Karthaus.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until the hour of services Saturday at the church.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Leigey-Renaud VFW Post #8386, Frenchville.
