Richard Allen “Dick” Swatsworth, 78, of Curwensville, died Friday May 31, 2013 at his residence. Born Jan. 31, 1935, he was the son of Leonard “Chuck” and Josephine “Peg” (Passmore) Swatsworth.
During his career, he worked for River Hill Coal Company, D.W. Hummel and Sons, Eastern Molding, Fletcher Contracting and Howe’s Leather. He was a former member of the Rescue Hose and Ladder Company in Curwensville and the Curwensville L.O.O.M. He also was a U.S. Naval veteran.
On Feb. 14, 1956 in Curwensville, he wed the former Shirley Ann Graham, who preceded him in death March 3, 2012. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a son, Dicky Swatsworth, a granddaughter, Mary Moore, a brother, Leonard Swatsworth Jr. and a sister, Jean Stiles.
Surviving are six children, Ricky A. “Whitey” Swatsworth, Michelle L. Mayhew and her husband, Tim and Brian K. Swatsworth and his companion, Sharon Bloom, all of Curwensville, Pamela Stewart and her husband, Lee of Clarion , Kimberly Swatsworth and her companion, Don Shawley of Houtzdale and Lisa Mick and her husband, Jim of Glen Richey.
Also surviving are four grandsons, six granddaughters, 10 great-grandchildren, a brother, Lee Swatsworth and his wife, Maggie of Curwensville and two sisters, Susan Stephens and her husband, Allen “Tuffy” of Curwensville and Betty Kula and her husband, John of Olanta.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville, with the Rev. George W. Solley officiating. Burial will be in the Bloomington Cemetery, Curwensville.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until time of services Wednesday at the funeral home.
