William Alfred Caldwell, 84, of Curwensville died Tuesday May 28, 2013 at the DuBois Regional Medical Center – West after a lengthy illness. Born April 15, 1929, he was the son of Harry and Mabel (Swatsworth) Caldwell.

Mr. Caldwell was a truck driver and retired from the former Al Hamilton Contracting.  He was a member of the Community Baptist Church in Bloomington.

On Sept. 7, 1947 in Canton, he wed the former Mary R. Robison, who survives along with six children, Sherril Mullins and her husband, Albert “Pooch,” David Caldwell and Becky Greslick and her husband, Tom, all of Curwensville and Sandra Chelgren and her husband, Lynn and James Caldwell and his wife, Elizabeth, all of Grampian and Robin McKee of Tennessee.

Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, one great great-granddaughter, three brothers and two sisters, Keith Caldwell and his wife, Louise and Elmer Caldwell, all of Curwensville, Malcolm Caldwell and his wife, Birdie of Glen Richey, Dorothy Burns of Florida and Norma Jean Roberts of Mississippi.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Archie and Darrell Caldwell, a sister, Marion Watkins and an infant sister, Lorna Caldwell.

Funeral services for Mr. Caldwell will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville, with the Rev. Todd Hogue officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensville.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday and from 12 p.m. until time of services Friday at the funeral home.
