Sophie S. DuFour, 89, of Windy Hill Village died Sunday, May 26, 2013 at Windy Hill Village. Born March 4, 1924 in Parsonville in rural Houtzdale, she was the daughter of the late Nicklas and Anna Rucher Kislack.
On Sept. 26, 1942 in Parsonville, she married Alexander DuFour, who preceded her in death on Sept. 29, 1991.
She was a member of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church, Osceola Mills.
She’s survived by two daughters, Deloris Puza of Philipsburg, NJ and Eleanor Coleman and her husband, Jerry of Mechanicsburg. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, a sister, Mamie Frankovich of Ginter and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Diggins, four brothers, Alex, Mike, John and Steven and three sisters, Helen, Anna and Elsie.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church, Osceola Mills, with Archimandrite Jacob Piruta officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
There will not be any public visitation.
