Approx. 550 Pheasants Perish in Fox Twp. Fire

fire breaking news graphicFOX TOWNSHIP – The cause of a fire is still under investigation after it destroyed a shed and garage at 114 Kyler Corners Rd. in Fox Township, according to the state police at Ridgway.

The Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal and the Fox Township Fire Department investigated the origin and cause of the fire. The fire destroyed a 12-foot by 28-foot, wooden-framed shed and a 28-foot by 30-foot, wooden framed garage.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation; however, there aren’t any suspicious circumstances. Damage is estimated at $100,000, state police said.

Approximately 550 small pheasants were being raised in the shed in preparation for a youth hunting program sponsored by the Fox Township Sportsmen’s Club. All of the birds perished in the fire, state police said.

The Horton Township Fire Department assisted at the scene.
