CLEARFIELD – The Lawrence Township Supervisors will create an ordinance to comply with a new PennDOT policy that requires highway occupancy permits to be handled through the local municipality rather than directly with businesses and property owners.
The supervisors learned of the new PennDOT policy when a business owner approached them. He wanted to proceed with the paperwork to allow his recently paved driveway to be connected through an existing guiderail. The supervisors said it would take a month to create the ordinance.
The supervisors approved the driveway connection through the township’s HOP. It gained their approval under the condition that it falls under the rules of the future ordinance.
In other business:
- A previously awarded bid for asphalt was found to be void. The bidder did not submit bids for all of the items. As a result, the bid was awarded to Cottle’s Asphalt Maintenance for $110,018.81.
- The Lawrence Township Police Department is still researching security and interview cameras.
- Waroquier Coal’s conditional permit hearing was scheduled for before the June 18 meeting. The Lawrence Township Planning Commission rejected the proposal at their last meeting due to a paperwork issue. However, it’s expected that the issue will be resolved.
