Obituary Notice: Edna O. Summerson

Edna O. Summerson, 77, of Pottersdale died Monday, May 20, 2013 at her residence. Born Sept. 13, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Kline and Estella Moore Schmoke.

Mrs. Summerson was a member of the Pottersdale Bible Mission. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Frenchville. She had worked as a cook at the Quehanna Hotel for more than 30 years.

She married Glenn B. Summerson on May 17, 1958. He preceded her in death Sept. 24, 2006.

She’s survived by five daughters, Linda Glass and her husband, Harry and Tracy Perryman and her husband, Jesse, all of Bellefonte; Cynthia Summerson of Colorado Springs, CO; Mary Johnson and her husband, Thomas of Woodland; and Melissa McCracken and her husband, Ron of Pottersdale and three sons, Leard M. Schmoke and his wife, Sandra of Houtzdale; Andy R. Summerson and his wife, Joann of Osceola Mills; and Neal Summerson and his wife, Penny of Lowville, NY.

Also surviving are four sisters, Geneva Hess of Renova; Roberta Firestone of Pottersdale; Phoebe Borger of Moshannon; and Charlene Schmoke of Rochester Mills; two brothers, Orville Schmoke and Jan Schmoke, both of Pottersdale; 19 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Summerson was preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the chapel of the Strange & Weaver Funeral Home, Morrisdale, with the Rev. Ronald Neese officiating. Burial will be in the Schmoke Cemetery, Pottersdale.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. until the hour of services Friday at the funeral home.
