Temporary Lane Restrictions Expected on Atherton Street through June

Preliminary design studies begin Monday

STATE COLLEGE – Temporary lane restrictions will be in place through June on Atherton Street as surveyors begin work Monday to inspect the existing drainage systems along the corridor. Motorists travelling on Route 3014 (Atherton Street) in the State College area, will encounter temporary lane closures from Colonnade Way to College Avenue. Closures will impact eastbound and westbound traffic.

Once initial survey work is complete, drivers could encounter additional lane restrictions through July as circumstances require.

Crews are gathering information as part of preliminary studies to identify drainage and pavement structure areas in need of repair or replacement. The work will be performed along a seven-mile stretch of Atherton Street in Patton, Ferguson and College townships and State College Borough.

This is a moving operation. Drivers need to be alert for crews in or near the roadway, closed lanes and changing traffic patterns. Motorists are reminded to obey posted speed limits and always buckle up.

PennDOT reminds motorists that bicyclists are known to be in the area. Motorists are asked to please use caution when driving near bicyclists, and to share the road and remain alert for bicyclists entering and using the highway. Drivers also need to be alert for pedestrians crossing the roadway.
