HARRISBURG – Pennsylvania state flags, which had been lowered out of respect for former Gov. George M. Leader, may be flown at full-staff beginning today.
Leader, who served as Pennsylvania’s 36th governor, died May 9 at the age of 95.
His funeral, attended by Gov. Tom Corbett and several former governors, including Gov. Dick Thornburgh, Gov. Tom Ridge, Gov. Mark Schweiker, Gov. Ed Rendell, as well as Lt. Gov. Bill Scranton III and Lt. Gov. Mark Singel, was held yesterday at the Derry Presbyterian Church in Hershey. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
Corbett had ordered the Pennsylvania state flags lowered in the Capitol Complex and at commonwealth facilities throughout the state on the day of Leader’s death.
