Larry Supienko, 89, of DuBois died Monday, May 13, 2013 at the DuBoisVillage. Born Sept. 30, 1923 in Lyndora, he was the son of the late Karl and Josephine (Zelinski) Supienko.
He became a pilot at the age of 16 years and was a flight officer for the Army Air Corps, where he flew the B-24 Liberator.
On July 15, 1945, he married Naomi Heverley. She preceded him in death on April 17, 2009.
He worked as head of the art and design department at the Brockway Glass Company.
He was a member of the LakesideUnitedMethodistChurch. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing and bowling.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Karla) Edwards of Austintown, OH and Mrs. Marshall (Libby) Peterson of Clayton, NC; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a special companion, Leona Hanes.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph.
There was no public visitation.
A private family funeral service was held Wednesday at BeechwoodsCemetery with Pastor Kevin Bockus officiating.
