Penelec to Consolidate Operations in Punxsutawney and Dubois Areas

Move Expected to Enhance Customer Service, Efficiency

READING – FirstEnergy Corp., a subsidiary of Pennsylvania Electric Company (Penelec), will consolidate its service operations in the Punxsutawney and Dubois areas, which is expected to increase efficiency and to enhance customer service.

The consolidation is expected to be completed later this year.

The main component of this operational change will be combining the Punxsutawney line shop with the Dubois line shop. The consolidation is designed to provide Penelec with greater flexibility to respond to service calls. While reporting locations will change for two employees, no job losses are expected as part of this change.

“Whether it be doing scheduled work or responding to emergencies, reconfiguring our service center operations gives us the flexibility we need to ensure we provide the best possible service to our customers,” said Penelec Regional President Scott Wyman.

Penelec serves approximately 600,000 customers in 31 Pennsylvania counties.
