ALTOONA — Altoona rolled up a 7-0 lead after two innings and went on to beat Clearfield 9-4 in a high school non-league softball game at Logan Elementary School Tuesday.
Losing pitcher Rachel Hoffman had two of the Lady Bison‘s four hits off Kirsten Kerr, who struck out eight and walked two.
Clearfield (5-12) scored two runs in the fourth, one on an error and the other on Victoria Ireland’s single.
The Lady Bison added their final pair in the seventh on Janelle Wallace’s RBI single and Megan Vanderburgh’s sacrifice fly.
Hoffman also had eight strikeouts. She issued three walks, hit two batters and gave up five earned runs.
Offensively, Altoona (2-16) was led by Sckylaur Kane with three singles and two runs batted in. Andrea Parrish had two hits, one a double, and Marshe Barnes drove in two runs.
Clearfield will play its season finale Thursday when Hollidaysburg 7-9 visits the Bison Sports Complex.
