Postponements Become Cancellations for Clearfield Teams

HYDE — The inclement spring weather has shortened the seasons for both the Clearfield Area High School baseball and softball teams.

Monday’s non-league baseball game at Bradford was cancelled because of snow.

Athletic director Robert Gearhart announced the Mountain League baseball game at Philipsburg-Osceola that was suspended because of lightning and rain will be completed Thursday at 4:30 p.m. The Mounties were ahead 6-2 when play was halted in the top of the fourth inning.

Coach Sid Lansberry’s Bison (5-11) will host Penns Valley Tuesday and travel to Punxsutawney Friday.

The Lady Bison softball team lost a second home game with the announcement that Thursday’s rainout will not be made up because Philipsburg-Osceola will be opening the District 6 Class AA Tournament Thursday.

Last week’s home game with District 9 Class AAA rival St. Marys was called off due to a function at the Elk County school and not rescheduled.

Coach Bob Lewis’ Lady Bison (5-11) will close the season at Altoona Tuesday and home against Hollidaysburg Thursday.
