Remember your teacher calling you over for story time? He or she would read stories of hero’s that saved the day or a princess in distress, each with a hidden lesson in all of them.

These stories have not changed; other than one particular thing, the language. Recently, two Spanish IV AP students and Spanish Honor Society members from

ClearfieldAreaHigh School received the opportunity to read to children at the Joseph & Elizabeth Shaw Public Library. The students, along with others, participated in the annual PA One Book event.

Every year the state issues a book that is to be read at these events. This year the book was ‘A Bus for Gus’ written by Suzanne Bloom, which came with a Spanish translation. As the story was read in English, Daniel Farmery and Krystal Wriglesworth would then read along in Spanish.

More than 100 families attended and each received a paperback copy of the book to take home.
