CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.

Shaw identified the fugitive as Miranda Lynn Clark, 25, of Morrison Street, DuBois. Clark was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on May 6.

On Sept. 18, 2012, Officer D. Scott Johnson of the DuBois City Police Department filed a criminal complaint, charging Clark with endangering the welfare of children and leaving an unattended child in a motor vehicle.

An affidavit of probable cause filed by Johnson states that on Aug. 15, 2012, officers from the DuBois City Police Department were dispatched to the parking lot area of a business in DuBois City, in order to check the welfare of two children. Upon arrival at the scene, officers observed the two children sweating inside the vehicle. The vehicle’s windows were completely up and it was not running. The outside temperature at that time was 75 degrees.

Upon investigation, it was found that the children had been left inside the vehicle for at least 30 minutes. A witness at the scene advised police that he had opened the door to the vehicle just prior to the officers’ arrival, in order to let air into the vehicle. Shortly after the arrival of the officers, Clark came out of the store and advised that she was the mother of the two children left inside the vehicle.

Clark attempted to leave the scene with her children but was ordered back to the vehicle by officers. The children were found to be 5 years old and 1-year-old.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Oct. 12, 2012, at which time all charges were held for court. On May 2, Clark failed to appear for a pre-trial conference, and a warrant was issued for her arrest.

Shaw stated that Clark is also awaiting sentencing on a separate case for charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment.

On Tuesday Shaw stated that Clark voluntarily surrendered herself to deputies from the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office.

Shaw thanked the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with this case.
