Dorothy Quick, 90, of Wallaceton died Saturday, May 4, 2013 at the Clearfield Hospital. Born March 2, 1923 in Clearfield, she was the daughter of the late Willard and Augusta Knepp Shimmel.
She was a lifetime member of the Wallaceton Church of God, Wallaceton. She’d worked for Navasky Clothing in Philipsburg and retired from there in 1985.
She married Kenneth E. Quick on March 21, 1942 in Brisbin. He preceded her in death March 31, 2009.
She’s survived by one daughter, Janet Walters and her husband, Robert of Williamsport; four grandchildren, Denise Altland and her husband, Perry of Westminster, MD, Michelle Souter and her husband, Edward Jr. of Williamsport, Aaron Stevens of York and Robert Walters Jr. and his wife, Amanda of Jersey Shore; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Paul Shimmel of Massachusetts.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Paul Quick; a daughter, Phyllis Ecker; two brothers, Francis Shimmel and Gilbert Shimmel; and a son-in-law, George Ecker.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Wallaceton Church of God, Wallaceton, with the Rev. Matthew Scott officiating. Burial will be in the Reidy Cemetery, Wallaceton.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Strange & Weaver Funeral Service, Morrisdale, and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday at the church.
