Robert Ray Swatsworth, 78, of Greenville, Grampian RD, died Sunday, April 21, 2013 at his residence. Born Feb. 7, 1935 in Rochester Mills, he was the son of Blair and Ethel (Winebark) Swatsworth.
Mr. Swatsworth was a retired contractor/painter and owned and operated RR Swatsworth and Sons General Contracting in Clearfield. He was a member of the Community Baptist Church in Bloomington, Curwensville RD.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the National Rifle Association, the National Wild Turkey Federation and Ducks Unlimited.
On Dec. 21, 1957 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Clearfield, he wed the former Rose Mary Rauch, who survives, along with four sons and a daughter, Robert D. Swatsworth and his wife, Denise and Carrie M. Gaines and her husband, Scott, both of Clearfield, Mark A. Swatsworth and his wife, Donna of Indiana, Randall S. Swatsworth and his wife, Trena of Bigler and Daniel I. Swatsworth and his wife, Dawn of Curwensville.
Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, David Swatsworth, Derek Swatsworth and his fiancée, Celeste Dunlap, Jason Swatsworth, Matthew Swatsworth, Destiney Swatsworth, Randall Swatsworth II, Joelene Murawski, Cassandra Swatsworth, Mallory Swatsworth, Abigal Gaines and Allyson Gaines and a sister, Annabell Peters of Clearfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, David Swatsworth.
Funeral services for Mr. Swatsworth will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Community Baptist Church, Route 453 South, Curwensville, with the Rev. Todd Hogue officiating. Burial will be in the Hill Crest Cemetery, Clearfield.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville and from 10 a.m. until time of services Thursday at the church.
