Cartha C. (Tubbs) Robbins, 90, of Olanta died Saturday, April 20, 2013 at her home. Mrs. Robbins was born Jan. 6, 1923 in Gazzam, the daughter of Blair and Agnes (Owens) Tubbs.

She was a life member of the Zion Baptist Church of Ansonville. More recently she attended the Community Baptist Church of Bloomington. As a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, she lived every day of her life as a true example of what a Christian should be, opening her days with prayers and devotions, filling her days with praise, love and service to others. She was never quick to anger, was always humble and was loved by everybody.

She also loved her family and spending time teaching and playing with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was also a great piano player who would often fill the old farmhouse with beautiful hymns complemented by her soft alto voice gently filling in the melody. She spent many days working in her garden and quilting, crocheting and knitting. Even though she would never admit it, she was incredibly skilled in the kitchen.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, James V. Robbins, two sons, Dennis A. Robbins and his wife, Faith and E. Lynn Robbins and his wife Roberta, all of Olanta, five grandchildren, Christy Daubs and her husband, Shawn, James Robbins and his wife, Rebecca, David Robbins and his wife, Brandee, Janet Robbins and Bradley Robbins, 11 great-grandchildren and a sister, Pearl McCracken of Kerrmoor.

Mrs. Robbins was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, John, Roy and Blake Tubbs and three sisters, Margaret Predmore, Emma Summers and Ruth McCracken.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home Inc., of Clearfield, with the Rev. Richard Engle and Pastor Todd Hogue co-officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Olanta.

Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until the hour of services Wednesday at the funeral home.
