Helen E. Gluczyk, 94, of DuBois died Thursday, April 18, 2013 at her residence. Born Jan. 1, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Sterzegar) Doktor.
On July 12, 1942, she married John V. Gluczyk. He preceded her in death.
She, along with her husband, owned and operated Gluczyk’s Market on the corner of West Long Avenue and Ridge Street in DuBois for many years.
She was a member of the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, where she was a devout worker for the Polish Festival and church decorator for many years. She was a member of the Rosary Infant of Prague Society.
She enjoyed artwork and gardening winning numerous local awards for her talent at both. She attended art classes at Penn State University DuBois into her early 70’s. She loved to play BINGO.
She’s survived by three children, Darlene Potash and her husband, Daniel, Gary Gluczyk and his wife, Susan and Linda Smollinger, all of DuBois, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, one brother, three grandchildren, Bryce, Brittany and Bradley Smollinger and two infant sisters.
Friends will be received from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. Sunday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Daniel Kresinski as celebrant.
Burial will be in the St. Michael Cemetery.
