PHILIPBSURG — Kate Burge hurled a two-hitter and Megan Bainey and Haylee Hayward belted two-run homers as Philipsburg-Osceola maintained its unbeaten status in the Mountain League with a 9-0 win over Clearfield Monday afternoon.
Burge, one of the keys in the Lady Mounties’ third consecutive District 6 Class AA title run last year, struck out 14 Lady Bison and walked one for P-O’s fourth victory.
Megan Vanderburgh and Hoffman had the hits for the Lady Bison, who are 1-4 in the ML and 2-4 overall.
Hayward’s home run in the fifth inning capped the Lady Mountie scoring against Hoffman, who gave up six hits and walked four. She struck out two.
Heather Picard recorded the final four outs, one a strikeout. She allowed one hit.
Abby Showers added two hits, one a double, and had a pair of runs batted in.
