David Dixon Jr., 86, of Keewaydin died Saturday, April 13, 2013 at his residence. Born June 25, 1926 in Karthaus, he was the son of the late David M. and Lula M. Gross Dixon.
Mr. Dixon was a member of the Shepard of the Hills Lutheran Church, Karthaus. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served as a Sergeant World War II Combat Engineer.
He received the World War II Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Army Occupation Medal, the Philippines Liberation Ribbon and the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon with Bronze Arrowhead. He was a member of the Leigey-Renaud VFW Post #8386, Frenchville.
Mr. Dixon is survived by his loving companion, Carolyn Butler and a son, Barry L. Dixon and his wife, Kristine, all of Keewaydin, and his three grandchildren, Danielle, Janelle and Justine.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant sons, Donald and Robert; a daughter, Debra Dixon; a sister, Anna Mae Bradford; and a brother, Samuel Dixon. He was the last member of his generation.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday at the Shepard of the Hills Lutheran Church, Karthaus, with the Pastor Matthew Finney officiating. Burial will be in the Keewaydin Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the hour of services Wednesday at the church.
Military honors will be accorded at the church by the Leigey-Renaud VFW Post #8386.
