Michael Dwane Warrick, 22, 128 ½ Hill St., Clearfield, an inmate of the jail, pleaded guilty to two counts of simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment. He was sentenced to 90 days to one year in jail and two years of probation. Originally, he was charged with four counts of aggravated assault, six counts of simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, two counts of harassment and disorderly conduct.
At a preliminary hearing in this case, the 18-year-old victim testified that he was in the kitchen of the home he shares with Warrick and their parents making some food. After he moved a plate with food that Warrick had prepared, Warrick began to yell at him. The victim yelled back then turned around to continue making his food. When Warrick said “how about this?” he turned back around and saw Warrick with a paring knife about four inches long in his hand.
When Warrick took a step toward him, he grabbed his arm. The victim was able to throw him down and pin him to the ground. During this struggle, Warrick stabbed him in the leg. The victim said his sister came in and was able to split them apart. Warrick then stabbed him in the abdomen.
Warrick’s parole for a drug charge was also revoked. For that he must serve 60 days before being eligible for re-parole. The new sentence will run consecutive to the violation.
He was fined $435 plus costs. He was also ordered to complete anger management counseling.
